Clinical Auditor (BHMS BAMS) Knowledge/special skills

» Clinical expertise preferably physician/dentists with excellent communication and interpersonal skills » Willing to take on broader responsibilities and should pursue training to become a Certified Professional Coder to get certified within 6 months » Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and adapt to the changing healthcare arena » Proficiency in organizational skills and planning, with an ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment » Proficiency in computer use, including database and spreadsheet analysis, presentation programs, word processing, and Internet search » Ability and willingness to seek out changes in healthcare reform and coding regulations, then incorporate those changes into chart review and educational responsibilities

Role functions

» Develop provider education strategies to promote complete and accurate clinical documentation and correct negative trends. » Collaborate with team members to aggregate findings from clinical documentation reviews (both retrospective and concurrent) and design educational content and remediation strategies for both individual providers and provider groups. » Provide or coordinate education related to compliance, coding, and clinical documentation issues within the healthcare organization. » Act as a consultant to coding professionals when additional information or documentation is needed to assign coded data. » Identify patterns, trends, variances, and opportunities to improve documentation. » Participate in departmental and hospital assigned task forces as required » Comply with HIPAA and code of conduct policies » Participate in CDI-related continuing education activities to maintain certifications and licensures. » Contribute to a positive working environment and perform other duties as assigned or directed to enhance the overall efforts of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate should be credentialed with a medicine degree and preferably supported by direct experience interacting with physicians.
